Topeka, Kan. – Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, today, announced the Department has published its 2026 fee schedule, further reducing fees and lowering the cost of doing business in Kansas by an estimated $1.1 million.
“Kansans have not just come to expect high quality service from the Department of Insurance,” said Commissioner Vicki Schmidt. “They also know I am a fiscal hawk, consistently delivering more efficient, more accessible, and less expensive services for every Kansan.”
HB 2050 was passed by the 2025 Legislature at the request of the Commissioner and broadened her authority to lower over 100 statutory fees. Before the new law, the fees were set in statute and could not be lowered. A fee schedule for the Department was published today in the Kansas Register, as required by the new law. The fees will take effect starting January 1.

Including these reductions, the Department has lowered fees and reduced the cost of doing business by more than $76 million under Commissioner Schmidt’s leadership.
